Young African Elephant

In elephants, the gestation period varies from 18 to 22 months, and a female can give birth to one baby at a time, but the baby weighs a hundred pounds! The elephant quickly becomes autonomous and learns to follow his mother quickly. To feed he sucks, with the mouth and not the trunk, until he is two years old, however it is in his first three months that he begins to eat plants! The females spend their life in their family of origin, the males leave the group at the age of 10 years.
